Silent House
Okay, it's another Friday and that means another release of some new movies! This week, the movie that kind of got my attention was the trailer for a 'turn on the light' kind of feeling. Silent House. I guess you could say I was in the mood for a good scare. If anyone out there ever saw The Devil Inside, we needed something after that to make us think that scary movies could actually be good anymore. Silent House is not that movie. It's just a small step.
The movie is based on a woman who goes to her family's lake house and finds her and her family secluded. They end up having no contact with the outside once in the house. Of course that would happen though, right? I was really hoping that the trailers on TV would actually mean that the movie was even scarier in the theater. It wasn't the case for The Devil Inside and it wasn't the case for this film either.. It's yet again one of those movies that shows all the good stuff on the TV and just prolongs a story with all the good parts in the previews.
Also, the fact that the movie was barely even at 90 minutes. 88 to be exact. The first 50 minutes builds the hype, seen the previews, then the last half hour just comes to a complete stop and that's the story. I'm sorry, but I don't really find any really good scary movies out there yet. I vote this one is just a small step from The Devil Inside and hopefully we can go up from here. I hope there's going to be that one scary movie that just blows all of these out of the water. Waiting for that one to come!

Project X
Going a different route once again on a movie review. After seeing
previews for this movie, I knew that it was going to be an adult film.
Parties, drinking, and flirting. Three things that late high schoolers
and early college go-ers are surrounded by. What better way to view what
these are like and exaggerated a lot than in a movie.
This movie doesn't really have anyone really well known. I think it's based on an actual event that's happened in Pasadena, California. It's storyline is based on three anonymous high school seniors that decide to stand out in their group of peers by throwing a party that no one will ever forget.
This movie contains a lot of adult humor, alcohol, drugs, etc. Things that most of our age group love to watch because it's what we think our lives are about. Even though it's probably nothing like that. We just like to think it is. I thought of this movie to be really intense with the things that happen with this epic party. Things that a huge, and I mean huge, party would contain. It's comedy is for a certain type of audience, I believe. If you liked Superbad, you'll really like this movie. Cause to me, it's like Superbad on steroids. As long as the humor is your type of humor, this movie is great. I personally liked the movie and I am sometimes one of those people who think my life is that intense. But, in reality, it's nothing like that. I recommend this movie to an audience of our age.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
Okay, guys. I know it's the month of February and Valentine's Day was a few weeks ago. I decided not to even see any of the movies coming out for that day and do a review over it, so sorry for those of you who really like those kinds of movies. I am personally not a fan of in depth love stories. But, if you think one comes out and is a must-see, feel free to let me know your thoughts on it and I'd be happy to consider it.
This week, I did decide to go on the family route for this post. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. I honestly was really hesitant on seeing this movie because I wasn't sure if I had to see a movie prior to this one in order to understand it. Well, the answer to that is no. I mean there is a movie before it, but you don't need to see it in order to see this movie. Although I recommend it. Unless you've read the books.
This movie is really directed for a younger audience, but I think that it's movie that everyone can enjoy. It stars Josh Hutcherson, from the first film and who will also appear in the upcoming movie The Hunger Games, Vanessa Hudgens, who I'm sure everyone knows but doesn't want to admit they know her from the High School Musical movies on the Disney Channel, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, who needs no introduction. There's quite the imaginative adventure that goes on in the movie and seeing it in 3D makes the movie a lot more fun, I think. I think a movie in 3D is best when animation plays a role in the movie. The movie is filled with lots of out of this world activity. It makes if fun for everyone to enjoy and they actors play a good role in making it fun. There's of course a romance in the movie that kind of hogs a bit of the adventure story, but it definatly doesn't ruin it. I highly recommend to this this movie because honestly I didn't think I would enjoy it. But in the end, it made me realize that for any age it opens up your imagination and that's good for me.

Chronicle
There's always that certain hype that people get when a new movie is coming out. I find myself to be quite a movie person and find myself in this 'hype' a lot. I don't like to read a lot of reviews before I go see a movie because I don't want any spoilers, strong opinions, or anything else to persuade my outlook on a good or bad movie.
This week I decided to go with a movie that I, personally, really anticipated. Chronicle. I'm a fan of the X-Men movies and I didn't know if that would affect my view of this movie or not. Usually when you think of a movie with super powers you think of X-Men, right? Well, I tried not to keep that in mind when going to see this movie because I'm not sure I really wanted to compare it to that. The characters didn't seem really well known, but after this movie I think it opens a lot for these young actors.
The movie is a view of first person, so you might want to prepare yourself for that. If you've ever seen Cloverfield (2008), then you know what I mean. The plot is kind of slow, but the movie is well worth the wait. I don't want to reveal any spoilers, but I think it's a really good interpretion of a movie with characters that actually emphasize the 'powers' in the characters. When going to see a fantasy/sci-fi kind of movie, I think it's important for the audience to somewhat escape from reality. I think the movie did a really well job with that. I think the movie has a really good flow with the younger crowd and some can say relate a lot to the characters. A lot would say it gave kind of a Blair Witch vibe and I did get that. The suspense, anticipation, and the on edge fellings were all present. The movie is well worth it and I really enjoyed it and would like to see it again.
